Diet and exercise can only do so much after pregnancy. If you’re left with loose skin, separated abdominal muscles, or a tummy that no longer reflects how you feel inside — that’s not a willpower problem. It’s anatomy.
The DDA was designed for women who are ready to take that final step, but can’t afford weeks of painful recovery, drains to manage at home, or an overnight hospital stay.
How the DDA is different
Day procedure – home the same day
No overnight hospital stay. You recover in your own home, in your own bed, from day one.
No post-operative drains
Tissue Fixation Sutures (TFS) eliminate the need for drains – removing the most common source of discomfort and inconvenience after surgery.
Reduced seroma risk
The technique directly addresses fluid accumulation – the most common complication of traditional abdominoplasty.
Long-acting nerve block for pain
A carefully calibrated local anaesthetic protocol significantly reduces post-operative discomfort – no relying on high-dose opioids to get through the first days.
Dr Malcolm Linsell – BSc, MBBS, MS, FRACS
Dr Linsell has been a specialist plastic surgeon for 35 years. He began developing the DDA technique in 2017 after decades of refining conventional abdominoplasty and identifying what made recovery difficult for patients.
In 2023, he was awarded a silver medal at the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) conference in Athens for his presentation of the DDA technique – recognition from the highest international body in his specialty.
He has since been invited to present the technique internationally, including at the ISAPS meeting in Cartagena, Colombia in 2024, and in February 2026, his paper, ‘Drainless Day-Procedure Abdominoplasty: Reduced Pain and Fewer Complications in 210 Consecutive Cases’ was published in the prestigious peer-reviewed journal PRS Global Open.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
01
Is it safe to have a tummy tuck as a day procedure?
The DDA technique is specifically designed to make this possible safely. The absence of drains and the use of long-acting local anaesthetic mean most patients are more comfortable going home than staying in hospital.
02
What is a seroma and will I get one?
A seroma is a collection of fluid beneath the skin — the most common complication of traditional abdominoplasty. The DDA technique uses Tissue Fixation Sutures (TFS) to close the space where fluid would otherwise accumulate, directly reducing this risk.
03
How long until I can drive, work, and care for my children?
Recovery varies by individual. Because there are no drains to manage, most patients move around more comfortably in the first week than they expect. We map out a specific timeline for your lifestyle at consultation.
04
Do I need private health insurance?
Private health insurance can affect pricing, particularly where a Medicare Item number applies. This is assessed individually at consultation. The package price is always fully inclusive regardless.
